How to Measure for Perfect Fit Shutters
This guide is for uPVC windows and doors only. It shows you how to measure for our no-drill Perfect Fit shutters. Follow each step carefully to ensure accurate measurements before ordering.
Do I have the right window style for Perfect Fit Shutters?
Perfect Fit shutters are designed for uPVC windows and doors with rubber beading between the frame and the glass. To check if your window is suitable, gently slide a credit card between the rubber beading and the glass. It should go in at least 10mm (1cm) for the shutters to fit correctly.
Perfect Fit shutter panels clip directly onto your window frame, so there’s no drilling required. Before measuring, check for any obstructions such as handles or vents. You’ll need at least 25mm of clearance around the glass.
Each pane of glass requires its own shutter. For example, in a bay window, measure each section individually. To make ordering easier, use the “Create similar” option in your basket to duplicate your configuration.

Step 1 - Measure the width
Measure between the inside edges of the rubber beading in three places: Top, Middle, Bottom. Use the smallest measurement. Do NOT include any of the rubber beading or seals.

Step 2: Measure the height
Measure between the inside edges of the rubber beading in three places: Left, Middle, Right. Use the smallest measurement. Do NOT include any of the rubber beading or seals.

Step 3: Measure for a mid rail
If your shutter height is over 1500mm, a mid rail is required for stability. A mid rail is a horizontal divider that splits the slats into top and bottom sections.
>For shutters between 550mm and 1500mm, a mid rail is optional.
Measure from the bottom of the glass to where you want the mid rail to sit (centre point). It must be at least 275mm from both the top and bottom, but is usually placed centrally.
Important: The mid rail location may be adjusted by up to 45mm during manufacture to align with the slats.
Step 4 - Check the rubber beading

Gently slide a credit card between the rubber beading and the glass. It should go in at least 10mm for the shutters to fit correctly.

Check that the rubber beading does not overlap the glass by more than 6mm.
Step 5 - Measure the bracket depth
Measure the depth of the window beading to choose the correct bracket size. Available sizes: 18mm, 20mm, 22mm, 24mm, or 30mm.
Place a credit card across the corner of the frame. Then measure from the glass to the edge of the card using a tape measure or ruler. Choose the bracket size that matches your measurement.
If your measurement doesn’t match one of these sizes, Perfect Fit shutters may not fit securely; we recommend choosing an alternative product.
Optional step - Measure for handle cut out
If your window has a handle, you’ll need to add a handle cut-out. When ordering, you’ll be asked for the position (left, right, top, or bottom) and the cut-out depth.
- Left or right handle: Measure from the bottom of the glass to the centre of the handle when in the open position
- Top or bottom handle: Measure from the left edge of the glass to the centre of the handle when in the open position
Important: Handle cut-outs are only needed for windows, not for patio doors.
